Choose a box family

Start with the job the carton needs to do. A box that fits the item but opens awkwardly, wastes packing material or requires a separate component can slow the whole packing bench. Compare the style as well as the dimensions.

Standard corrugated shipping boxes

A practical starting point for routine outbound orders. Compare the exact inside size, stated board construction and order quantity. A cube suits some products; rectangular cartons can fit others with less unused space.

Multi-depth cartons

Useful when products share a footprint but vary in height. Check the score positions on the selected carton and the instructions for folding it down. Adjustable height does not mean the length and width change.

White corrugated boxes

Choose a white exterior when appearance or label contrast matters. White is a finish choice, not a strength rating. Compare the board specification and dimensions just as you would for a kraft carton.

Tall and narrow boxes

Tall and narrow boxes

For elongated items that fit a smaller footprint. Check the opening direction, protect vulnerable ends, and review the finished outside length before selecting a carrier service.

Gaylord boxes, bottoms and lids

Gaylord boxes, bottoms and lids

For bulk handling and storage applications. Confirm whether the listing is a complete container, a bottom, or a lid; component names matter. Match the selected item to your pallet and handling method.

Moving boxes

Moving boxes

For relocation, sorting and protected storage. Match the carton to its contents and any required packing materials. A moving-box label alone does not establish parcel-shipping suitability or a safe packed weight.

Need another format? Explore shipping mailers or the wider boxes, pads and tubes category. Each product format has its own sizing and closure requirements.

Find your size in four steps

  1. Measure the protected item. Include the wrap, inserts, dividers or other cushioning that will remain inside the sealed carton. Measure a representative packed item, not just its bare product dimensions.
  2. Check the dimension convention. Confirm whether the listing describes usable inside dimensions, assembled outside dimensions or the shipping bundle. Do not use a bundle measurement as the size of one finished box.
  3. Compare candidate cartons. Use the 3D box size finder to start your search, then open the product details. Check the stated size, shape, board specification and pack quantity for the exact item you intend to buy.
  4. Pack a sample before standardizing. Confirm that the item cannot shift, the flaps close without bulging and the cushioning stays in place. Measure and weigh the finished parcel for shipping estimates.

For a dimensional reference, use our corrugated box sizes chart. It supports this shopping page with measurement guidance; the individual product listing remains the place to verify the carton you order.

Do not choose the tightest possible box if it leaves no room for required protection. Equally, avoid an unnecessarily large carton that adds void fill and shipment volume. The useful target is a repeatable fit that protects the contents and is straightforward for the team to pack.

Match the construction to the shipment

Box strength is a specification decision, not a visual judgment. A larger carton is not automatically stronger, and two cartons of the same dimensions may use different board constructions. Check the exact product description and any published strength markings before committing to a repeat order.

  • How heavy is the sealed package? Include the contents, inserts, cushioning and carton. Do not infer a safe weight limit from size or ECT alone.
  • Will cartons be stacked? Review the load above, stack duration, humidity and handling conditions with your packaging specialist.
  • Does the item have vulnerable edges? Plan cushioning, dividers or edge protection rather than relying on empty space.
  • Is the environment unusual? Confirm suitability for moisture, temperature exposure or special handling on the actual product specification.
  • Is the order a complete packaging system? Check for separately supplied lids, bottoms, inserts, closures and other required parts.

For more detail, read 32 ECT versus 44 ECT boxes or our double-wall box selection guide. These explain selection considerations, not a blanket guarantee for a particular load. For fragile, unusually heavy or regulated contents, request packaging review before purchasing.

Boxes for the way your team works

E-commerce fulfillment

Build a manageable set of carton sizes around your common orders. Record the chosen SKU and packing method so repeat shipments do not depend on guesswork.

Warehouse replenishment

Plan carton supply around consumption, replenishment time and dry storage space. Separate daily-use bundles from reserve stock so packers can find the right size.

Parts and maintenance shipping

Check sharp edges, protrusions and small loose components. Select internal protection that prevents movement and keeps parts from contacting the carton wall.

Retail and presentation

Compare carton appearance and opening style with the handling it must survive. A presentation package may still need a separate outer shipping carton.

Office moves and storage

Group contents by weight and access needs. Label the outside clearly and confirm shelf or pallet fit using the assembled outside dimensions.

Bulk collection and handling

Check pallet footprint, container components and the method used to move the filled load. Review the specific bin or Gaylord specification before use.

Buying by the bundle, case or larger quantity

Read the order unit before comparing prices. A bundle of 25 boxes is not the same unit as one box, a case of components or a pallet quantity. Multiply the package count by the number of packages ordered to confirm the total number of cartons arriving.

For example, four bundles containing 25 cartons each provide 100 cartons. That is a quantity example, not a promise that every product is sold in bundles of 25. Our catalog includes different pack counts, and some packaging components are sold separately.

For recurring demand, estimate usage by carton SKU rather than combining every size into one monthly total. That makes a quantity quote more useful and reduces the chance of stocking too much of a slow-moving size. Include your delivery ZIP code and whether delivery is to a commercial facility when asking about larger orders.

Compare the complete delivered cost, not only the carton price. Shipping, storage space, cushioning, sealing supplies and packing time all affect the practical choice. Our bundle-versus-pallet buying guide explains what to consider before increasing order volume.

Complete the packing station

A carton is one part of the shipment. Select compatible packing tape and a closure method suited to the box and contents. Add protective packaging where the item needs cushioning, separation or surface protection, and use corrugated pads and sheets when the application calls for layering or separation.

Keep packing instructions with the carton SKU: which item goes inside, the required insert or wrap, how the box closes and where the shipping label belongs. Before introducing a new size, have a packer assemble and seal one complete example using normal station supplies. A theoretical dimensional fit is not enough if the actual process is awkward or inconsistent.

Store unused cartons flat in a clean, dry area and protect them from crushing or moisture. Keep labels and SKU identifiers readable so similar-looking sizes are not mixed. Inspect damaged or previously used cartons before considering reuse, particularly when stacking or transit protection matters.

Get help choosing or quoting boxes

For a quantity quote or selection help, send our team your box requirements. The more specific the request, the easier it is to compare suitable catalog options and confirm what is included.

  • Product and protected-item dimensions, with units.
  • Finished packed weight and any fragile or sharp features.
  • Preferred box style, board requirement or an existing SKU.
  • Boxes required now and expected repeat usage.
  • Delivery ZIP code and any receiving restrictions.
  • Required date and the intended parcel, pallet or storage application.

If you already know the exact SKU, open its product page to check the current order unit and available options. If you are still deciding, start with the box finder and include the candidate sizes in your quote request. We can help narrow the selection without guessing at a strength rating or delivery commitment.

Frequently asked questions

Are box dimensions inside or outside measurements?

Check the exact listing. Corrugated box dimensions are commonly stated as inside dimensions, but you should verify that convention before ordering. Use the finished outside dimensions for carrier and storage planning.

Can I find a box by entering dimensions?

Yes. Start with our 3D box size finder, then review the actual product page for the selected match. Include the room needed for cushioning when comparing the usable interior.

Does the bundle price mean the price of one box?

No. Read the order unit and pack count. A price shown per bundle of 25 covers that bundle, not a single carton. Confirm the current product page and cart before purchasing.

Is a white box stronger than a kraft box?

Not simply because it is white. Compare the stated board construction and strength specification for the exact SKU. Exterior color is not a substitute for those details.

When should I choose a multi-depth box?

Consider one when you need a common footprint with different packing heights. Confirm the available score depths and assembly instructions. The footprint does not become adjustable.

Can I request pricing for a repeat or large order?

Yes. Use the quote request page and include sizes or SKUs, quantities, repeat usage and delivery ZIP code. Our team can review the request and confirm applicable pricing and delivery details.
